Ivanja Reka Kindergarten was opened in 2024 and conceived as a “city in miniature,” featuring a sequence of spaces that encourage communication and a sense of community among children. Inspired by the local architecture of the settlement—with pitched roofs and an irregular arrangement of houses—the kindergarten integrates seamlessly into its surroundings, while the design conveys a sense of warmth and familiarity. The facility is designed for five educational groups, with dining areas located on each floor, which is a rarity in kindergartens. On the floor housing the offices and educational groups, a larger central hall is provided, serving as a shared space for children’s social interaction and activities. The building incorporates multisensory rooms as well as a dedicated area for exploring light and shadow, fostering sensory stimulation and creativity. Furniture and play equipment were carefully selected to further support the functionality of the space and the children’s everyday needs.
